I like to make things complicated…yup, I said it outloud. All those around me who have been keeping that lil tid bit in thinking I didn’t know I did this…HA….I know I do. I procrastinate…I over think…I hmmmm and I hawwwwww…I often take the really long way home because I’m navigationally challenged…many of these things happen to me. When it came to figuring out what to do for Luke’s birthday I of course did the cardinal sin of moms who can’t craft…I went…to Pinterest.

The fancy parties. The beautiful crafts. The CUSTOM WATER BOTTLE LABELS?! The world of birthday parties has thrown up all over itself with cuteness overload, and here I am the janitor mom attempting to just clean up enough junk to make it look cool….and that means I went to Party City and bought everything. Yup. I didn’t make ANYTHING…cept the food.

I outsourced :). I begged my graphic designer friend Kelly to whip together a cool thumbprint circus picture that I could use as a guestbook (cuz I saw it on Pinterest…curse it). I cleaned out the “circus themed” aisle at Party City…CLEANED IT OUT. Big poofy red fluff thing I can hang from the ceiling? IN THE CART. I didn’t make his cake, the nice people at the bakery at Weis did (twice cuz mom said the first was BUTT ugly….who makes a butt ugly cake for a 1 year old? Terrorists…thats probably who). I asked Claire to beg one of her fellow friends to do some photography for me for free…cuz I’m generous like that :). If it wasn’t being consumed…I wasn’t making it…hooray for lazy! I had my mom pick out an outfit for Luke because I…well…didn’t (doh). I also outsourced my mom and mother-n-law to help me clean and organize my jumbled mind to get everything ready because we all know I can’t do things on my own. Man….I AM LAZY.

THANK YOU ALL. For giving up your saturdays and watching a 12 month old shovel cake into his mouth and humor me by getting ink on your thumb and  playing with an oversized bear and getting him sweet presents and not laughing at my horrible attempt at a circus tent with streamers…you all are super. And for my husband for getting up on a ladder to make the circus tent…and then getting back up there to take all the tape off the ceiling…and the pieces of paper…you rock.

Because of you guys, Luke had a fab-tas-tic birthday party with a theme that celebrates animal cruelty (doh…did yall see that article…life crushing). So he may never actually get to go to a real circus… at least not ones with animals…just scary, awful, nightmare inducing clowns or something…Thankfully y’all have about 11 months before I ask you to do it all again…right….hey guys….HELLO!?!
